The Greek Dementia Care Buddy Project will empower individuals of Greek-speaking background who are living with dementia through the provision of information, individual support and companionship to enable them to maintain their independence and continue to participate meaningfully in community life. The project is aimed at reducing the social isolation of individuals living with dementia and their families and carers by creating links with the supports and services that are available within their local community.

AGWS intends to utilise bi-lingual and suitably trained volunteers who are competent in addressing the specific needs of individuals with dementia to provide support with the access of recreational activities and other community support services. These volunteers will also be utilised to provide support to carers of these individuals through the provision of culturally and linguistically appropriate information and resources, individual support and regular telephone support.
